HOSPITALITY WEBSITES / LOV AGENCY EDITORIAL

A beautiful hotel website should make choosing easier.

A practical design perspective on room discovery, booking handoffs and the details that give guests confidence.

Start with the decision, not the animation.

A hotel website has two jobs: communicate the feeling of a stay and help someone decide whether it is right for them. An opening film can create atmosphere, but it should not make room information, location or booking controls difficult to reach. We begin by mapping the questions a guest needs answered before selecting a room.

Give each room a reason to be chosen.

A list of room names is rarely enough. Present the differences that matter: layout, outlook, occupancy, outdoor space and the experience each room offers. Use consistent labels so that a guest can compare without memorising several pages. Photography should show the room clearly as well as convey its atmosphere.

Treat the booking engine as part of the design.

A polished website can lose its coherence when a guest enters an unfamiliar booking interface. During discovery, review the booking platform, its mobile behaviour and the information it can carry across. Keep dates and guest counts when the platform supports them. Explain the handoff where it cannot be seamless.

Make confidence visible.

Cancellation terms, what is included, accessibility information and contact options belong near the decisions they affect. Avoid forcing guests to search a policy page to answer a question that could stop a reservation. Use direct language and keep promotional claims specific and verifiable.

Test a complete journey.

Ask someone unfamiliar with the property to find a suitable room and reach the reservation review step on a phone. Observe where they hesitate, whether they understand the rate and whether they can recover from a mistake. Evaluate a redesign against an agreed baseline after launch; attractive screens alone do not establish a commercial result.
